1) No cell phones during the academic school day.

  • After using your phone to show your completed “attestation” app, store your phone in your backpack. It should not be removed for the remainder of the academic day.
  • The only situation where your phone can be used during the academic day is for academic purposes as directed by  a teacher.
  • Never touch another student’s phone (this is a quick way to transfer germs!)

2) Respect the Nobles computers and iPads.

  • Do not alter any of the settings on the laptops or iPads in the classroom carts, or the desktop computers by Mrs. MacDonald’s desk.
  • Do not download games or music on school devices.

3) Respect the electronic privacy of the community.

  • Do not access someone else’s email. Log off the previous user if necessary.
  • Do not share passwords.
  • Do not send chat requests or inappropriate emails.

4) No games or social networking on campus at ANY time. (TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.)

  • This includes Nobles computers, personal computers, iPads and cell phones.
  • No social media pages are allowed for middle school programs (i.e. you cannot have a separate middle school Instagram account for the middle school baseball team)
  • To be clear: even after the academic day —no games or social networking apps!

5) Video sites (YouTube, etc.) can ONLY be used on campus with teacher permission.

6) Music and/or podcasts can ONLY be played on any electronic device with headphones and with specific teacher permission for an academic purpose or when permitted during study hall.

7) Laptops borrowed from classroom carts must remain in that room unless a student is given permission from a teacher to take it out of the classroom. Laptops may only be borrowed for one class period and returned to the exact same laptop cart (in the same classroom) at the end of the class.

8) Inappropriate handling of a Nobles iPad or laptop, including misuse or leaving it unattended, will result in a SCRAP and potential loss of technology privileges.

The abuse of technology in the Middle School, as well as failure to adhere to the above expectations will result in disciplinary actions. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Scott-Hiser.

Nobles Middle School Cell Phone Policy

From Head of the Middle School John Gifford

A reminder that we do not think your child needs a cell phone. While phones can be a convenient way for parents to quickly communicate with their children, they can create complications (and be distractions) for young people as well. Students can get all email on their laptops which should cover 99% of any communication a parent or guardian might need to have with their child. If something is urgent, you can call Nobles, and we'll find your child for you.

As most know, we ask students to lock away their phones during the academic day.  Between classes, their heads will be up so that they can communicate live with their peers and teachers. At least, that is the hope!
