50 Years of Women at Nobles : Publications

In Their Voices

In Their Voices: The Sesquicentennial History of Noble and Greenough School 1866 - 2016, by Joyce Leffler Eldrige, presents a brief account of coeducation at Nobles in Chapter 4: Coeducation. This chapter details the conversations and planning undertaken during the initial phases of coeducation in the early 1970s, outlining the various options the school explored. It also highlights the significant role of Edward S. Gleason, the fourth head of School, in leading Nobles into the era of coeducation, beginning with the Upper School in 1974 and extending to the Middle School in 1982.
